Torino vs Parma – News and Probable Lineups

Both teams aim to distance themselves from relegation threats, as Torino and Parma prepare for Serie A’s upcoming Friday night clash.

Following a disappointing spell in 2026, Torino finds themselves four points behind their rivals from Emilia, putting them uncomfortably near the relegation zone.

Match overview

After suffering a 2-1 defeat to Napoli at Stadio Maradona last week, Torino continues to strive for survival in Serie A, currently sitting just six points above the relegation spots.

Since the international break at the end of November, no other team in Italy’s top division has faced more defeats: Torino’s 11 losses matches only those of the bottom three clubs – Cremonese, Hellas Verona, and Pisa.

Tasked with averting disaster, new head coach Roberto D’Aversa, who was appointed last month, has so far guided his team to three points from two matches.

Prior to this, D’Aversa won his first home match after taking over from Marco Baroni, as Torino overcame Lazio 2-0 in Turin.

This match was another instance of near-empty stands at Stadio Olimpico Grande, as supporters persist in their protests against Urbano Cairo’s ownership.

With tensions running high between fans and the president, Torino will host Parma this weekend, where a loss may see them slip to 16th place and deeper into jeopardy.

After claiming a 2-1 home win against Torino in their previous encounter this season, Parma aims to achieve their first league double over them since 2013.

Recent form undeniably suggests they have a strong chance, having secured three victories and no losses in their last five outings.

Currently sitting 12th in the standings and ten points clear of relegation, Carlos Cuesta’s squad held Fiorentina to a goalless draw last week, keeping them on track to avoid the drop.

The Gialloblu have also collected seven points from their last three away matches, having recently triumphed over Bologna and AC Milan, all without conceding a goal.

In their entire Serie A history, Parma has never recorded four consecutive clean sheets away from home; they may never have a better chance than now, as Torino possesses one of the weakest attacking units in the league.

Team News

Former Parma manager D’Aversa is expected to have a full squad available for his third match in charge of Torino, with only Zakaria Aboukhlal’s situation in some doubt.

The Moroccan winger has missed three games due to two different injuries, but he has recently returned to training and could potentially be on the bench.

Once again, Che Adams, team captain Duvan Zapata, and top scorer Giovanni Simeone are vying for two starting spots in the attack.

On the other hand, Parma’s forward line will be spearheaded by Mateo Pellegrino, who scored two goals in both encounters against Torino in 2025; however, the towering striker has only found the net once in his last nine league games.

Adrian Bernabe and Sascha Britschgi are both still doubts due to injury, and the visitors will certainly be without Pontus Almqvist and Matija Frigan.

With regular starter Lautaro Valenti returning from a one-match suspension, Cuesta might consider making some adjustments at the back.

Torino probable starting XI:

Paleari; Coco, Ismajli, Ebosse; Lazaro, Gineitis, Prati, Vlasic, Obrador; Simeone, Zapata

Parma probable starting XI:

Crows; Troilo, Circati, Valenti; Del Prato, Sorensen, Keita, Nicolussi Caviglia, Valeri; Strefezza, Pellegrino

Having drawn half of their 18 Serie A encounters in Turin, these teams could continue this trend on Friday night.

Without any expectations of assistance from his former club – whom he once guided to successive promotions – D’Aversa may be content to settle for a draw.
