Besiktas vs Alanyaspor – News and Probable Lineups

Besiktas will continue their quest for a top-four finish in the Turkish Super Lig as they host a struggling Alanyaspor at Tupras Stadium on Sunday night.

The Black Eagles have remained unbeaten over their last 12 competitive fixtures (7 wins, 5 draws), including their last nine league matches (5 wins, 4 draws), while the visitors arrive in Istanbul after failing to secure a Super Lig victory in their last three attempts (1 draw, 2 losses).

Match overview

Sergen Yalcin has swiftly become a beacon of hope for Besiktas supporters, with an impressive revival lifting the club from eighth to fifth in the league table, putting them just three points away from the top four.

The Black Eagles bounced back well from their 2-2 draw away at Eyupspor, clinching a hard-fought 2-1 home victory over Konyaspor last weekend, despite going down first and playing the last 10 minutes with a numerical disadvantage.

This fighting spirit was evident again midweek as Besiktas equalized against Kocaelispor in the Turkish Cup after conceding a penalty in the 18th minute, with Orkun Kokcu stepping up later to convert a penalty of his own.

Now, Yalcin’s squad will aim to carry this momentum into a league encounter that presents an opportunity for revenge against one of the few teams that have defeated them this season.

However, Besiktas have not managed to overcome Alanyaspor in their past five encounters (3 draws, 2 losses), including a 2-0 defeat in the earlier meeting back in August.

That victory against the Black Eagles marked Alanyaspor’s first league win of the season, but since then their campaign has stalled, managing only three more victories in the Super Lig, while struggling to secure wins in closely contested matches.

Joao Pereira’s side leads the league in drawn matches with a total of 10 and have suffered six losses, placing them 10th in the standings with 22 points from 20 matches.

Their last league win came in December against bottom-ranked Fatih Karagumruk, with subsequent defeats to Fenerbahce and Eyupspor along with a draw against Caykur Rizespor.

However, they did achieve a morale-boosting result midweek in the Turkish Cup, thrashing lower-league Boluspor 4-0—a performance they will hope can ignite a change in their league fortunes.

Team News

Besiktas will be without El Bilal Toure—their leading scorer among the remaining squad—as he is suspended due to accumulating yellow cards, with youngster Mustafa Hekimoglu anticipated to take his place in the starting XI.

Kokcu is in excellent form, having found the net in each of their last three encounters, and he also leads the team in terms of big chances created this season (9), making him a vital player once again.

The Black Eagles made several moves before the transfer window closed, bringing in Wolves defender Emmanuel Agbadou, midfielder Junior Olaitan, and forward Hyeon-gyu Oh, making it five new arrivals in January.

On the other hand, Alanyaspor has only one injury worry, with Bulut Buluthan sidelined due to a knee injury, while Izzet Celik, Enes Keskin, Ozdemir Yusuf, and Bedirhan Ozyurt remain suspended for betting violations.

The visitors did not sign anyone during the window but did send striker Uchenna Ogundu to Augsburg.

Besiktas probable starting XI:

Destalgluh; Bult, Djalo, Topcu, Yalmaz; K. Yalmaz, Kucus; Rashica, Cerny, J. Silva; hed

Alanyaspor probable starting XI:

Typical; Conditions, Ali, Lima; Roan, Janvier, Makota, Hardegjonj; Hw, Yalcin, Karaca

Besiktas appears well positioned to extend their impressive run and strengthen their hold on the top-four contention, as Yalcin’s squad plays with confidence, determination, and improving attacking cohesion, while Alanyaspor struggles for consistency despite their recent cup boost.
