Brentford vs West Ham – News and Probable Lineups

West Ham United’s struggle to avoid relegation from the Premier League continues this Saturday afternoon as they head to the Gtech Community Stadium to take on Brentford, who are aiming for European qualification.

The two sides meet just over a month after an exciting FA Cup fifth-round clash at the London Stadium, where the Hammers triumphed in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw.

Match overview

Brentford still harbors hopes of qualifying for Europe for the first time in club history, but their ambitions have taken a hit in recent weeks due to a series of five consecutive draws and a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Monday – marking their longest winless league streak since February-April 2024.

Head coach Keith Andrews expressed his “bitter disappointment” after witnessing his team squander multiple scoring chances, yet his squad remains optimistic about finishing in the top seven of the Premier League table, with only two points currently separating the Bees in ninth place from Brighton in sixth.

Of Brentford’s last four league matches, two are at home, and they will be eager to enhance their performance in front of their supporters, having not claimed a victory in their last six at the Gtech Community Stadium (D4 L2), with three consecutive draws – it has been since March/April 2021 in the Championship that they drew four consecutive home league games.

The Bees will also aim to improve their results in London derbies, as they have only won two out of their last 15 in the Premier League, failing to secure a win in their last nine home matches (D6 L3). Nonetheless, both of those victories were against West Ham.

Indeed, Brentford has triumphed in three of their last four Premier League home fixtures against the Hammers, scoring a minimum of two goals in each win; the lone exception being a 1-1 draw last season.

West Ham is making a determined effort to retain their top-flight status for a 14th consecutive season and currently holds sixth place in the Premier League form table over the last 10 matches, acquiring 16 points (W4 D4 L2) since the start of February.

The Hammers have garnered seven of those points in their last three matches, achieving a 4-0 victory against Wolves, a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace, and a late 2-1 win against David Moyes’s Everton last weekend, with substitute Callum Wilson scoring a key 92nd-minute winner.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, whose team is currently in 17th place, just two points above the relegation zone, anticipates that the fight against relegation will extend to the final weekend of the season, with his side set to face Brentford, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Leeds in their closing four matches.

West Ham enters Saturday’s fixture having won two of their last four Premier League London derbies (D1 L1), accumulating the same number of points in those four games as they did in their previous 14 combined (seven).

However, the Hammers have faced challenges in securing favorable outcomes against Brentford in recent times, having lost seven of their nine Premier League encounters (W1 D1) – which is their highest loss rate against any opponent they have faced at least nine times in the league (78%).

Team News

Brentford will still be missing the injured quartet of Antoni Milambo, Fabio Carvalho (both knee), Rico Henry (thigh), and Vitaly Janelt (ankle), while Jordânia Henderson has been absent for the last four matches due to an unspecified issue and will undergo assessment prior to kickoff.

Josh Dasilva returned to the matchday squad on Monday for the first time in 816 days after overcoming a long injury spell. The midfielder is likely to be available again on Saturday, but is not expected to start ahead of either Yehor Yarmolyuk, Mathias Jensen, or Mikkel Damsgaard.

Dango Ouattara and Kevin Sharde are anticipated to continue their partnership in attack alongside 21-goal striker Igor Thiago, but Keane Lewis-Potter may replace one of the wingers if Andrews opts to bring back Aaron Hickey at left-back.

Regarding West Ham, there are no new injury concerns to report, and Nuno may be inclined to maintain the same lineup that began the victory over Everton last time out.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has found himself playing second fiddle to Kyle Walker-Peters recently, who is likely to retain his position at right-back this weekend, joining Axel Disasi, Konstantinos Mavropanos, and El Hadji Malick Diouf in a four-man defensive unit.

Despite scoring the match-winner against Everton, Wilson may not displace either Valentin Castellanos or Pablo Felipe in attack, while key player Jarrod Bowen will continue on the right wing. The Hammers captain is only two assists away from becoming the club’s first player to achieve 50 Premier League assists and currently has 10 for the season, surpassed only by Bruno Fernandes (19).

Brentford probable starting XI:

Kelleher; Kayode, Van den Berg, Collins, Lewis-Potter; Jensen, Yarmolyuk; Ouattara, Damsgaard, Schade; Thiago

West Ham United probable starting XI:

Hermansen; Walker-Peters, Mavropanos, Disasi, Diouf; Bowen, Soucek, Fernandes, Summerville; Paul; Spanish

West Ham has conceded in every one of their nine Premier League clashes with Brentford, but they have displayed improvement in their defense in recent weeks, while the Bees have only scored in half of their league outings in 2026 (8/16).

With West Ham fighting to stay up and Brentford aiming for Europe, both teams have ample motivation to seek a win, leading us to foresee an engaging, back-and-forth match. Yet, a draw seems the most probable outcome this time around.
