Orlando City xNew Inglaterra - prediction, team news, lineups

Orlando City SC is set to welcome New Inglaterra Revolution for an MLS regular-season match at Inter&Co Stadium this Saturday, coinciding with Decision Day.

Orlando City SC is assured of reaching the playoffs for the seventh time consecutively. However, they currently occupy the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference standings with 43 points. To improve their position, they must secure a victory to match seventh-place FC Cincinnati at 46 points and potentially avoid the wild-card game, depending on other outcomes.

On the other hand, New Inglaterra Revolution is driven by the objective of securing a higher seed, sitting third with 58 points, only one point behind Inter Miami. A better result than Miami’s fixture against Charlotte FC would grant them the second seed and the advantage of playing at home during the conference semi-finals.

Match overview

Orlando City SC managed just four wins from their initial 15 league fixtures prior to the World Cup break, prompting the club to replace head coach Oscar Pareja with assistant Martin Perelman as interim in March.

The Lions have experienced mixed results since the restart, with eight wins, five losses, and five draws in their 18 matches. They are now without a win in three outings, having drawn 2-2 at home with New York City FC on October 24, conceding an equalizer at the very end.

Following that, they drew 2-2 against Chicago Fire on October 29 after leading 2-0 at halftime and faced a hefty 4-0 defeat to Charlotte FC on October 31.

Orlando has allowed 14 goals in their last six league matches, with the defeat to Charlotte marking their first game without scoring in 26 across all competitions, despite Maxime Crepeau saving a penalty, which was followed by Abdoulaye Doucoure converting the rebound in the 84th minute.

Since arriving during the summer, Antoine Griezmann has contributed 14 goals and provided seven assists in 17 MLS appearances, although his streak of 12 consecutive league games with goal contributions, which tied the club record established by Martin Ojeda in 2025, was halted in Charlotte.

Perelman can take comfort in the form at home, as Orlando is unbeaten in their last six home league matches (five wins, one draw), scoring 15 goals while conceding only six since their run began on August 22.

New Inglaterra Revolution has accumulated 58 points through 18 victories, 11 losses, and four draws in head coach Marko Mitrovic’s debut season, who replaced Caleb Porter after the team concluded two seasons without reaching the playoffs.

The Revolution clinched a playoff spot on October 14 with a 3-2 victory against FC Cincinnati and then secured wins over Chicago Fire (1-0), Philadelphia Union (2-1 on the road), and Red Bull New York (3-2), marking four successive triumphs.

Daniel Gazdag put the Revolution ahead in their match against Inter Miami on November 1, but Lionel Messi netted a winner in the 83rd minute, resulting in a 2-1 defeat in front of a season-high crowd of 54,112 at Gillette Stadium, which relegated New Inglaterra to third place.

Matt Turner featured with eight saves in the match against Red Bull New York, just one shy of his career-high, and his 18 wins set a record for a Revolution goalkeeper in a single season, despite the team squandering a two-goal lead to finish 2-2 that evening.

Dor Turgeman has netted 12 goals, 10 of which came after the World Cup break, while captain Carles Gil has contributed 13 assists this season, reaching the milestone of 100 regular-season assists in the game against Red Bull New York.

Mitrovic has focused on a young squad, including Peyton Miller, who scored twice against Orlando on September 19, joining 21-year-olds Brooklyn Raines, Ethan Kohler, and Joshua Wynder in the lineup against Miami.

Team News

Orlando is dealing with the absences of defenders Griffin Dorsey (back) and captain Robin Jansson (foot) as well as forward Tyrese Spicer (foot) for the match against Charlotte, and none have been confirmed fit to be back yet.

David Brekalo returns after serving a suspension due to accumulated yellow cards against Charlotte, but reports suggest that Iago, who received a booking in that game, will miss this match due to suspension.

This situation leaves Wilder Cartagena, who stepped in as a central defender for Brekalo in the Charlotte game, alongside Brekalo as the most likely central defensive partnership, while Vinicius Nogueira could face pressure at right back after his substitution at halftime following a challenging first half.

Griezmann, Martin Ojeda, and Ivan Angulo all started in the match against Charlotte with no injuries noted, and Angulo’s seventh goal of the season at Chicago on October 28 was also his 19th for the club in various competitions.

New Inglaterra had not issued an injury report at the time of this writing, but Jack Harrison (quadriceps) and Leonardo Campana continue to be sidelined due to lower-body injuries sustained since March.

Alhassan Yusuf (hamstring) has returned from injury and was available as a substitute against Inter Miami.

Mitrovic deployed Turner behind Ilay Feingold, Kohler, Wynder, and Will Sands against Miami, with Matt Polster and Raines in the center of midfield, and Miller, Gil, and Gazdag providing support to Turgeman.

Orlando City probable starting XI:

Crepeau; Nogueira, Brekalo, Cartagena, Taifi; Angle, Brian Ojeda, Otavio, Pasalic; Martin Ojeda, Griezmann

New Inglaterra Revolution probable starting XI:

gymnasts; Sands, Wynder, Kohler, Feingold; Polster, Raines; Miller, Gil, Gazdag; Turgeman

New Inglaterra is expected to edge a high-scoring encounter given their swift attacking style, which previously produced four goals in the match on September 19, against an Orlando defense that has allowed 14 goals in their last six league outings and is missing Jansson, Dorsey, and reportedly, Iago.

Orlando’s edge rests on their five wins in six home league matches and the presence of Griezmann, although those victories came against teams such as Toronto FC and D.C. United, while their recent fixtures against New Inglaterra, Chicago, and Charlotte yielded just one point from nine and resulted in 10 goals against.

Orlando had scored in every competition match since May before experiencing the 4-0 loss at Charlotte, making it likely for either Griezmann or Martin Ojeda to find the net again, leading to an expectation that the Lions could score twice but fall just short.
