Sevilla vs Alavés – News and Probable Lineups
With both teams holding identical records in La Liga this season, Sevilla and Alaves will face each other at Estadio Ramon on Saturday evening.
Each side has achieved seven victories, four draws, and 12 defeats from their 23 league games, leaving Sevilla in 13th position and Alaves in 14th in the La Liga standings.
Match overview
Sevilla has secured only one win in their last eight outings across all competitions, the sole victory being a 2-1 triumph over Athletic Bilbao on January 24.
Los Nervionenses will head into this match after a 1-1 draw against Girona, which leaves them with 25 points from 23 matches in 13th place.
Matias Almeyda’s squad has struggled at home this season, earning only 14 points from 12 matches. They will face an Alaves team that has recorded just two wins from their 11 away La Liga matches in the 2025-26 season.
Sevilla finished 17th in La Liga last season, marking their worst performance since their relegation in 2000, and they are only three points above the relegation spots.
Los Nervionenses were defeated 1-0 by Alaves earlier this season, but last season’s fixture ended in a 1-1 draw.
Alaves boast a recent away win against Sevilla, having claimed a 3-2 victory in January 2024, though they have only achieved 12 wins in 44 encounters with their opponents in all competitions.
The away side will approach this matchup following a 2-0 defeat at home to Getafe, though they have managed to win two of their last three league outings, overcoming Real Betis and Espanyol at the end of January.
Like Sevilla, Alaves holds seven wins, four draws, and 12 losses from their 23 league matches this season, accumulating 25 points, although they have faced difficulties in attack, scoring just 20 goals thus far.
Eduardo Coudet’s team finished in 15th place in La Liga last season, and they have only experienced one campaign outside of Spain’s top tier since the 2016-17 season.

Team News
Sevilla will be missing Ruben Vargas, Marcao, and Osco due to injuries, while Andres Castrin’s availability for Saturday’s match remains uncertain as he is undergoing a fitness test.
Neal Maupay has found the back of the net once in his two appearances since joining Sevilla on loan from Marseille, and he is expected to occupy another spot in the attacking lineup.
There may be a change at wing-back from the last match, with Juanlu Sanchez poised to start on the right after a commendable display off the bench against Girona.
On the other hand, Alaves will be without Ville Koski due to injury, while Carlos Protesoni is doubtful for the trip this weekend.
The Basque team will also be without Jonny because of a suspension, having received a significant yellow card in the recent match against Getafe.
Viktor Parada could be the player to take advantage of Jonny’s absence, but it is likely that the same starting XI will be maintained that faced Getafe, including Carles Alena on the left side.
Sevilla probable starting XI:
We drove; Azpilicueta, Gudelj, Salas; J Sanchez, Agoume, Mendy, Suazo; Fernandez; Well done, Adams
Alaves probable starting XI:
Sivera; Tenaglia, Garces, Pacheco, Parada; Calebe, Blanco, Ibanez, Alena; Martinez, Boye
Only 11 of the last 44 meetings between these sides have ended in draws, but picking a winner is proving challenging, and a low-scoring draw is a likely outcome.
