Monaco vs Angers – News and Probable Lineups

Mônaco has the chance to match their longest home winning streak in Ligue 1 this season with another victory on Saturday as they face Angers at Stade Louis II.

Last week, the club from the Principality maintained their position in eighth place, coming back to triumph 3-2 over Lens, while Angers, currently in 12th, suffered a 1-0 defeat against Lille in their last match.

Match overview

Despite being eliminated from the Champions League, Sebastien Pocognoli has seen promising performances from his Mônaco players in domestic leagues.

Heading into this weekend, his team has secured points in five consecutive Ligue 1 fixtures, including winning their past two home matches in the top flight.

This successful run has put them back in contention for a European spot, as they sit just three points behind Lille and Rennes, who occupy fifth and sixth places, respectively.

Les Monegasques have been significantly more effective offensively at home recently, scoring a total of seven goals in their last two league matches—matching the total from their previous seven home games combined in this competition.

Mônaco has maintained a 100% home record in Ligue 1 this season when netting the first goal, although they have only achieved one victory at Stade Louis II when conceding first.

In their last five encounters with Angers at home, four have seen Les Monegasques emerge with maximum points, and they have remained unbeaten in 11 of their last 12 meetings with them in this competition.

Following a robust start to February, Alexandre Dujeux has seen a decline in his team’s performance, as Angers has recorded back-to-back losses.

This has left them eight points adrift of the European qualification spots and on the brink of matching their longest losing streak this season (three matches).

They have scored one goal or less in five successive league matches and faced three defeats during this period.

As they approach matchday 24, only three points separate them from Lorient in ninth place, and they are just two points behind Toulouse for a spot in the upper half of the table.

On the road, Angers has been unable to score in three of their last four competitive outings, while they have registered one goal or fewer in seven consecutive matches across all competitions as visitors.

Les Scoistes have taken points from two of their last three clashes with Mônaco, managing to win their last trip to the Principality, 1-0 in 2024.

Team News

Mônaco continues to cope with injury concerns, as Lukas Hradecky, Paul Pogba, Mohammed Salisu, and Takumi Minamino are sidelined with knee problems. Eric Dier and Christian Mawissa are also dealing with hamstring injuries, and Kassoum Ouattara has a calf issue.

A thigh concern may prevent Krepin Diatta from participating, while Aleksandr Golovin is set to return from suspension.

Folarin Balogun, Denis Zakaria, and Ansu Fati all found the net during the second half against Lens, helping the team recover from a two-goal deficit.

On the other side, Angers will be without Yassin Belkhdim on Saturday due to a yellow card suspension, although Carlens Arcus will be eligible to come back from his suspension.

There was only one change to their starting XI in the match against Lille, with Amine Sbai stepping in for Arcus.

Mônaco probable starting XI:

Kohn; Vanderson, Kehrer, Faes, Henrique; Teze, Zakaria; L. Camara, Fati, Golovin; Balogun

Angers probable starting XI:

Coffee; Raolisoa, O. Camara, Lefort, Ekomie; Belkebla, van den Boomen; Capelle, Mouton, Sbai; Koyalipou

While their performances have not always been optimal, Mônaco has managed to secure results in recent domestic matches, and it is anticipated that their renewed confidence will carry them to a win against a team that struggles to create clear-cut chances.
