Troyes will meet Marseille in Ligue 1 for the first time in more than three years, as the match takes place at Stade de l’Aube on Sunday.
Both squads have encountered difficulties at the start of the 2026-27 season, with ESTAC currently sitting third from the bottom after suffering a 2-0 defeat against Angers on matchday five, while OM finds themselves one point lower following a close 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
Match overview
The return of Troyes to the top tier has not gone smoothly, as they are currently just a point above the relegation zone.
Stephane Dumont’s squad will be aiming to break their three-match losing streak in the league on Sunday, during which they have failed to find the back of the net in their last two games.
Scoring goals has been an ongoing struggle for them this season, and they have also given up the second-highest number of goals in the league thus far (11), with six of those conceded at home.
A win this weekend would mark their first Ligue 1 home victory since August 2022 (3-1 over Angers) and put an end to a 19-match winless streak at home in this division.
Creativity has also posed a challenge, as Troyes has produced the least amount of significant chances in the French top flight to date (eight).
On Sunday, they have the opportunity to secure their first Ligue 1 victory over OM since last beating them at home 1-0 in 2012.
After a promising start to his coaching tenure, Bruno Genesio faces the challenge of turning things around for Marseille, who have quickly fallen off form.
Following an impressive 4-0 victory against Strasbourg in their opening match, OM have now lost their last five fixtures across all competitions.
Les Olympiens are at risk of suffering five consecutive Ligue 1 losses on Sunday, which would mark the first time this has happened in this century.
Despite holding the third-highest average possession per game this season in the league (56.5%), they also find themselves ranking seventh in terms of significant chances missed (10).
Finding the net has been problematic for them away from Stade Velodrome this season, as they have not scored in their last two Ligue 1 away matches.
Les Olympiens have been victorious in five of their last six encounters with Troyes in this league, including their last trip to Stade de l’Aube in 2023 (2-0).
Team News
Yvann Titi is unlikely to be available for Troyes on Sunday due to a leg issue, while Ismael Boura is managing a hip injury.
Alexandre Phliponeau is dealing with knee pain, and Paolo Gozzi’s participation is uncertain because of a strain in his groin, with both players expected to miss this weekend’s match.
For Marseille, Tochukwu Nnadi has a knee problem, Geoffrey Kondogbia is questionable due to muscle tightness, and Timothy Weah will be unavailable due to suspension.
Angel Gomes briefly leveled the score against PSG, but the reigning champions found the winner just two minutes later, leading to another defeat for OM.
Troyes probable starting XI:
Beach; Donkor, Monfray, Diaz, Ouzenadji; Gomis, Diop, Karim; Ripart, Le Douaron, Nkada
Marseille probable starting XI:
De Lange; Meite, Egan-Riley, Aguerd, Palmieri; Abdelli, Hojbjerg; Gomes, Gouiri, Paixao; Good
This fixture could be the moment for Marseille to release all their frustrations, as they have a solid historical record against Troyes and possess the talent to capitalize early and often.
