Belarus xSan Marino - prediction, team news, lineups

San Marino will be looking to secure their first victory in nearly two years as they continue their 2026-27 UEFA Nations League journey against Belarus on Saturday.

The home side has suffered defeats in their first two matches of Group 1 in League C, placing them at the bottom of the table, while Belarus finds themselves in third place with one point from two games.

Match overview

Belarus commenced their 2026-27 Nations League campaign with a 2-0 loss to Albania, followed by a goalless draw against Finland last time out – the lone point collected from two matches has kept them in third position in Group 1 of League C ahead of this encounter.

Viktor Goncharenko’s squad has two more matches during this international window, facing San Marino on Saturday before hosting Finland on October 6.

Belarus played in League D of the Nations League in 2018-19 but have been in League C since then, holding an overall record in the competition of eight victories, ten draws, and seven defeats.

This matchup will mark the third meeting between Belarus and San Marino in history.

Previous encounters occurred during the 2018-19 Nations League, where Belarus secured convincing 5-0 and 2-0 wins against La Serenissima.

San Marino experienced a shaky start to their 2026-27 Nations League, falling to a 7-0 loss against Finland before succumbing to a 3-0 defeat against Albania in their latest fixture, which has left them at the foot of Group 1 in League C.

La Serenissima has suffered 16 losses in their last 17 matches across all competitions and haven’t celebrated a victory since defeating Liechtenstein in the Nations League back in November 2024.

San Marino holds a record of two wins, three draws, and 14 losses from their 19 prior matches in the Nations League, having found the net on only five occasions.

Roberto Cevoli’s team has two more fixtures scheduled during this international window, including an away match against Albania following this contest.

San Marino is currently the lowest-ranked FIFA-affiliated national team but remarkably earned promotion from League D during the 2024-25 competition, achieving two victories.

Team News

The head coach of Belarus, Goncharenko, may opt to maintain the same lineup for this match, as there are no injury concerns reported.

Vitaly Lisakovich has netted seven goals in 28 appearances for his national team, and the 28-year-old is expected to play a significant role in the attack.

Additionally, Max Ebong should continue to earn minutes in the midfield.

On the other hand, San Marino welcomes back Alessandro Golinucci, who is available after serving a suspension, and he is anticipated to return to the starting lineup.

Nicola Nanni has scored five goals in 57 caps for San Marino, and the 26-year-old is likely to feature prominently in the attacking line.

Gabriel Capicchioni is also set to start the match from the outset.

Belarus probable starting XI:

Lapoukhov; Kalinin, Volkov, Gomanov, Pechenin; Lukashov, Selyava, Ebong, Shumansky; Barkoxiy, Lisakovich

San Marino probable starting XI:

Columbus; Welcome, Cevoli, Rossi, Giocondi; Mularoni, L Capicchioni, Golinucci, Pancotti; Nanni, G Capicchioni

San Marino faces a significant challenge once again on Saturday, and it seems challenging to foresee anything other than a decisive victory for Belarus.
