Tottenham xCrystal Palace - prediction, team news, lineups

Tottenham Hotspur aim to secure their third consecutive Premier League victory this Saturday evening against a struggling Crystal Palace team in North London.

Crystal Palace will remember their last encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium fondly, having triumphed 3-1 in March of the previous season.

Match overview

After a lackluster beginning to the 2026-27 season, Tottenham seems to have turned a corner under head coach Roberto De Zerbi, amassing eight points in their last five Premier League matches (W2 D2 L1).

A winless streak of six games has been followed by two vital wins, one at home against Coventry City (3-1) and another away against their London rivals Chelsea (2-0), marking their first league win at Stamford Bridge in 40 years last weekend.

De Zerbi has stressed that the “qualities of the players are very clear” and is encouraged by the “fight” exhibited by Tottenham, which has lifted them to 14th place in the Premier League standings, three points clear of the relegation zone and just two points shy of the top six.

In the past week and a half, Tottenham has surprisingly recorded only one fewer win than in their last 26 Premier League games combined (W3 D10 L13); they are now in pursuit of achieving three consecutive victories in the league for the first time since February 2025.

Tottenham has not secured back-to-back home wins in the league since November 2024, but positively, De Zerbi remains unbeaten in four encounters against Crystal Palace as a manager (W2 D2), a good sign heading into Saturday’s fixture.

The pressure is increasing on Crystal Palace’s head coach Pierre Sage, who only took over from Oliver Glasner four months ago, after his squad has suffered five defeats in their opening eight Premier League matches and conceded a league-high 19 goals.

Frustrated supporters at Selhurst Park expressed their dissatisfaction with boos directed at Sage and his players following last Sunday’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United, rounding off a dreadful week that began with a 5-0 loss to M23 rivals Brighton & Hove Albion.

With Crystal Palace sitting in 17th place in the Premier League table, it is reported that Sage might be at risk of losing his position if the Eagles experience another defeat against Tottenham this weekend, with Sean Dyche thought to be one of the frontrunners for the managerial role.

Sage has remained unfazed by such rumors, and he received a timely lift when Palace managed a narrow 1-0 victory against Fulham in the EFL Cup fourth round on Wednesday, ending a five-game streak without a clean sheet for the club.

Achieving consistency in the Premier League remains a major challenge for Palace; since a 2-1 victory over Fulham back in December 2025, they have the most losses (17) and have conceded the most goals (58) of any team in the division.

Nonetheless, the Eagles have won their last two matches at Tottenham and will strive to achieve a third consecutive victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend, which would be a historic first for them.

Team News

Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur will be completing the final game of his three-match suspension this weekend, while Destiny Udogie, Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert (all knee injuries), Savio (muscle issue), and Mykhaylo Mudryk (ankle injury) are all sidelined.

Injury-plagued James Maddison came off with groin discomfort during the win against Chelsea and is now considered a doubt, while Lucas Bergvall (knee) and Tosin Adarabioyo (calf) will undergo evaluations before kickoff.

In the potential absence of Maddison, either former Palace loanee Conor Gallagher or Archie Gray could take his place in midfield. A positional switch for Gray could also allow Pedro Porro to return to right-back.

For Crystal Palace, Ismaila Sarr continues to struggle with a groin issue and remains unavailable, alongside defensive pair Takehiro Tomiyasu (calf) and Chadi Riad (knee).

However, Quinten Timber and Jorgen Strand Larsen may be ready to rejoin the matchday squad after recovering from hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively, with the latter having returned to team training on Thursday after previously participating in individual sessions.

Eddie Nketiah netted the sole goal in Palace’s EFL Cup win at Fulham and could earn another starting position in attack, potentially alongside Jean-Philippe Mateta and Yeremy Pino, while Adam Wharton, Tyrick Mitchell, Anan Khalaili, and Axel Disasi are all expected to be recalled.

Tottenham Hotspur probable starting XI:

Kinsky; Porro, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Robertson; Gallagher, Fernandes, Tonali; Kudus, Marmoush, Tel

Crystal Palace probable starting XI:

Henderson; Canvot, Disasi, Richards; Khalaili, Wharton, Kamada, Mitchell; Pino, Nketiah; Tests

In Crystal Palace’s last 14 Premier League matches, eleven have seen over 2.5 goals, and it is anticipated that both teams will find the net as these two London sides seek a crucial victory.

While Palace has triumphed in three of their previous four encounters with Tottenham, De Zerbi’s squad seems to be on a much more positive trajectory compared to Sage’s struggling Eagles. With home advantage and an increasing attacking rhythm, Spurs are likely to find a way to outscore their defensively vulnerable rivals and extend their winning streak.
