Levante vs Girona – News and Probable Lineups

Levante aims to secure consecutive victories in España’s top division as they host Girona on Saturday afternoon.

The Frogs currently sit in 19th place on the La Liga table, trailing 17th-placed Elche by five points, while Girona occupies the 14th position, six points clear of the relegation zone.

Match overview

Levante’s last match significantly boosted their survival hopes in La Liga, as they achieved a 2-0 win over Alaves, ending a challenging four-match losing streak.

Luis Castro’s side has much work ahead if they are to escape the relegation zone, however, the gap to Elche in 17th is now just five points, with ample games remaining before the end of the 2025-26 season.

Levante holds the worst home record in La Liga this season, accumulating only 10 points from 13 matches, as they prepare to clash with a Girona side that has collected 14 points from their 13 away games this season.

The Frogs have faced Girona 21 times previously, with a record of 10 wins, five draws, and six losses.

Levante looks to claim a La Liga double over Girona, having previously triumphed 4-0 in their reverse fixture back in September 2025.

Since their last victory over Levante in November 2017, three of the most recent five encounters between these teams have ended in draws.

In their upcoming match, the visitors come off a 2-1 home defeat to Celta Vigo, marking their first loss since late January.

Michel’s team records show seven wins, nine draws, and ten losses from their 26 league fixtures, leaving them with 30 points and positioning them 14th in the standings, six points above the relegation zone with 12 matches remaining.

Levante possesses the poorest defensive record in La Liga this season, allowing 44 goals, while Girona has conceded 42, making this encounter a duel between two of the league’s weaker defensive units during the 2025-26 campaign.

Team News

On Saturday, Levante might give Carlos Espi a start, as the 20-year-old came off the bench to score twice in their last victory over Alaves.

Etta Eyong remains out of the starting lineup amid ongoing speculation regarding his future, and the Cameroon international is expected to start on the bench once again.

Levante will have Kervin Arriaga returning to their squad following a suspension, but Pablo Martinez, Unai Elgezabal, and Roger Brugue are sidelined with injuries for this fixture.

Meanwhile, Girona will be without Donny van de Beek, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Portu, Juan Carlos, Alex Moreno, and Ricard Artero due to their respective injuries.

Cristhian Stuani is also a doubt due to a groin issue, but there is a possibility that the experienced forward may be included in the squad this weekend.

No major surprises are anticipated in the Girona lineup on Saturday, with Axel Witsel likely to feature in central midfield.

Levante probable starting XI:

Ryan; Toljan, Dela, Moreno, Sanchez; Raghouber, Olasagasti; Tunde, Espi, Cortes; Romero

Girona probable starting XI:

Gazzaniga; Rincon, Reis, Blind, Martinez; Beltran, Witsel, Lemar; Tsygankov, Vanat, Gil

Levante will strive to secure another crucial win as they fight to stay in the division. However, Girona has been on a decent run lately, making it hard to back the hosts, leading us to predict a low-scoring draw.
