Kasımpaşa vs. Galatasaray – News and Probable Lineups

On Sunday, Galatasaray faces Kasimpasa, already having secured the Super Lig title.

While the visitors have a four-point lead at the top of the Super Lig standings with one match left, Kasimpasa sits in 14th place and needs at least one point to maintain their status in Turquia’s top division.

Match overview

Galatasaray has struggled to retain their Super Lig title, having dropped points in nine of their 33 fixtures during the 2025-26 season.

Nonetheless, their recent 4-2 win against Antalyaspor has given them an unassailable edge over their city rivals, Fenerbahce.

Galatasaray can now take a more relaxed approach heading into their final match of the season, but head coach Okan Buruk may be frustrated with four losses in their last nine matches across all competitions.

In spite of that, they have secured 13 points from their last six Super Lig games, scoring a total of 14 goals during this stretch.

However, Galatasaray has experienced three defeats in their last six away matches, the most recent being a 4-1 loss to seventh-placed Samsunspor.

The nature of that defeat might motivate Kasimpasa as they strive to secure their place in the top tier.

Though they have garnered eight points from their last six matches, Emre Belozoglu’s team is still not out of danger, as unfavorable results could see them relegated.

Genclerbirligi and Antalyaspor, sitting below them in the table, have a superior head-to-head record against Kasimpasa.

Thus, for Kasimpasa to avoid dropping into the third relegation spot, they would need to avoid defeat, while hoping Antalyaspor beats Kocaelispor and Genclerbirligi does not lose to Trabzonspor.

Kasimpasa has not managed to win an away Super Lig match since November 23, but they can take comfort in having collected 14 points from 17 such games.

Team News

Kasimpasa will be without the services of Andreas Gianniotis, Kamil Corecki, and Cenk Tosun, all suspended due to accumulating four yellow cards.

Goalkeeper Ali Emre Yanar is set to make his first league start of the season, while Mortadha Ben Ouanes could get a surprise start at right-back due to a lack of options following Corecki’s suspension.

This may open the door for Fousseni Diabate to play on the left wing, with Jim Allevinah possibly returning to a more central position.

On the other hand, Galatasaray will miss Victor Osimhen due to suspension, with Mauro Icardi likely stepping into his place.

Mario Lemina and Noa Lang might also be brought back into the squad, though the visitors are not expected to make significant changes due to the relegation struggle.

Kasimpasa probable starting XI:

Yanar; Ouanes, Becao, Arous, Frimpong; Baldursson, Demirby; Cahveci, Allevinah, Diabate; Benedyczak

Galatasaray probable starting XI:

Chakir; Sallai, Sanchez, Bardakci, Jacobs; Torreira, Lemina; Who, Akgun, No; Icardi

With the pressure lifted, it will be interesting to see how Galatasaray approaches this match. Yet, considering the stakes at the lower end of the table, a largely intact squad is anticipated, leading us to foresee a victory for the champions while Kasimpasa may be forced to depend on results from other matches.
