Volendam vs Feyenoord – News and Probable Lineups

Feyenoord might need to yield the Eredivisie title to PSV Eindhoven if they suffer a defeat against FC Volendam at Kras Stadion this Sunday.

Currently in second place with 53 points, the visitors find themselves trailing the league leaders PSV by a significant 15 points, with only 18 points remaining to be contested, while Volendam sits in the 15th position with 27 points.

Match overview

Volendam remains just above the relegation playoff position in 16th, mainly due to superior goal difference and still has to compete against three of the bottom five teams.

The hosts were defeated 2-0 by Sparta Rotterdam on March 21, marking their third consecutive loss in the top division, with an aggregate score of 7-1.

In their last five matchdays, only Heracles (two) have scored fewer goals than Palingboeren (four), and just two teams have conceded more (10).

Manager Rick Kruys will be aware that his team is winless in their last five encounters against Feyenoord, having lost four times, including a 3-1 defeat in the previous league meeting on November 1, 2025.

Despite their recent troubles, Volendam has managed to secure three victories out of their last five games at Kras Stadion, with one draw and just one defeat in that span.

Feyenoord came back to draw 1-1 against Ajax on March 22, and they may feel they deserved all three points given their opponents registered only 0.21 xG and had two shots on target.

Although the championship appears nearly out of reach, the visitors cannot afford to be complacent as their position in the final Champions League spot is precarious, only five points clear of Ajax in fourth.

Head coach Robin van Persie has presided over two draws, one win, and one loss in his last four games in charge, but his squad did secure victories in their previous three outings.

De Trots van Zuid have netted at least two goals in three of their last five fixtures, although they also conceded seven times during that interval.

Feyenoord has struggled away from home, winning just once in their last eight matches and suffering five defeats in that stretch.

Team News

There are doubts regarding Volendam winger Benjamin Pauwels due to a muscle injury; should he be unfit, Joel Ideho and Bilal Ould-Chikh may be called upon to support forward Brandley Kuwas.

Midfielders Alex Plat and Yannick Leliendal might feature in front of center-backs Mawouna Amevor and Nick Verschuren.

Feyenoord faces concerns over several players, including forwards Leo Sauer and Sem Steijn, although the latter is expected to return soon.

Raheem Sterling and Anis Hadj Moussa could support striker Ayase Ueda, who has amassed 22 league goals in 26 matches.

There are concerns about the fitness of center-back Jeremiah St. Juste, which may lead to a central defensive pairing of Tsuyoshi Watanabe and Anel Ahmedhodzic.

FC Volendam probable starting XI:

Van Oevelen; Ugwu, Amevor, Verschuren, Meijers; Flat, Leliendal; Ould-Chikh, Kokcu, Ideho; Kuwas

Feyenoord probable starting XI:

Wellenreuther; Lotomba, Watanabe, Ahmedhodzic, Bos; Moder, Targhalline, Valente; Moussa, Ueda, Sterling

Feyenoord’s performances on the road have been less than convincing, and it wouldn’t be unexpected if they face several challenges at Kras Stadion.

Volendam has shown a marked improvement at home compared to their away form, and they might have what it takes to secure at least a point.
