Monaco vs Brest – News and Probable Lineups

Mônaco could temporarily ascend into a European qualification spot with a win on Saturday as they host Brest at Stade Louis II in the Principality.

As they approach this match, Les Monegasques sit seventh in the Ligue 1 standings, having recently upset Paris Saint-Germain with a 3-1 victory, while the Brittany club has climbed to ninth thanks to a 2-0 defeat of Le Havre.

Match overview

In what has been an unexpectedly fluctuating Ligue 1 season, Mônaco has dramatically turned around a campaign that seemed poised for disappointment.

Their narrow exit in the Champions League playoff round against Les Parisiens seems to have infused this squad with a confidence that was previously lacking throughout much of the season.

On Saturday, they aim for a fifth consecutive win in this competition, which would match their longest winning streak since September to October 2022 (five matches).

Following a streak where they lost four of five home matches between November 2025 and January this year, Sebastien Pocognoli’s team has now achieved three straight victories in league fixtures at home.

During this period, they’ve secured two clean sheets, and could potentially achieve consecutive shutouts at Stade Louis II for the first time domestically in 2025-26.

Les Monegasques have secured victories in their last five top-flight encounters with Brest at home, having scraped by with a narrow 3-2 win in this same fixture last season.

Another side that appears to have rediscovered their form is Stade Brestois, who have accrued points in their last six league fixtures.

Throughout these recent five matches, they have conceded only a single goal, and have dropped points just once (1-1 draw against Lille).

A fourth consecutive win on Saturday would signify their longest winning stretch of this season, having not achieved such a feat since the 2023-24 season when they achieved six victories in succession.

Their strong performances in recent weeks have placed them in contention for a European position, currently sitting just five points behind Lille for a spot in the Conference League.

Eric Roy’s squad has managed to earn points in three straight away Ligue 1 matches, and this Saturday they will aim for back-to-back away victories in this competition for the first time in this season.

Les Pirates have won their last two Ligue 1 encounters against Les Monegasques but haven’t claimed victory at Stade Louis II since 2010 (1-0).

Team News

There are several injury concerns for Mônaco, with Paul Pogba (knee), Mohammed Salisu (knee), Lukas Hradecky (knee), Takumi Minamino (knee), Eric Dier (hamstring), Kassoum Ouattara (calf), Krepin Diatta (calf), Caio Henrique (calf), and Vanderson all questionable for Saturday.

Folarin Balogun has scored in his last three Ligue 1 matches, as he, Aleksandr Golovin, and Maghnes Akliouche all found the net against the league leaders.

On the Brest side, Mama Balde continues to recover from a muscle strain, while Daouda Guindo is set to return from his suspension.

Ludovic Ajorque has also scored in his last three domestic outings, having contributed a crucial goal in Normandy after Romain Del Castillo had initially put his team ahead.

Mônaco probable starting XI:

Kohn; Kehrer, Zakaria, Faes; Mawissa, Camara, Teze, Golovin; Akliouche, Balogun, Coulibaly

Brest probable starting XI:

Coudert; Lala, Chardonnet, Diaz, Locko; Chotard, Magnetti; Del Castillo, Doumbia, Balde; Ajoque

Both teams are in excellent form and feeling confident, but Mônaco has triumphed over significantly stronger opposition in recent weeks, which seems to have sharpened their overall performance and decisiveness.
