Mônaco xToulouse - prediction, team news, lineups

In their quest to keep their slight edge at the summit of the Ligue 1 standings, Mônaco returns to the pitch on Saturday as they take on Toulouse at Stade Louis II.

The Monegasques are among the three unbeaten teams in this league, having secured a 2-1 victory over Lens before the international break, while Toulouse currently resides in 13th place after edging past Le Havre 3-2 in their most recent fixture.

Match overview

It has been a strong start for Filipe Luis, who has effectively managed this Mônaco squad that faced challenges during the 2025-26 season.

The coach who led Flamengo to a Copa Libertadores title has guided the Principality club to 13 points in the league up to this point, one more point than they had after five matches last season.

A draw or win on Saturday would see Mônaco remain unbeaten in their first six Ligue 1 matches for only the second time since the 2013-14 season.

Currently, they are above Lyon and Paris FC at the top, having lost just once in their last nine league encounters at Stade Louis II.

Mônaco has not lost at home in top-flight matches during October in this decade, winning their last three such games.

Additionally, Les Monegasques are aiming for a third consecutive home victory against Toulouse, having not conceded a goal the last two times they faced them at their home ground.

Toulouse managed to secure a crucial victory on matchday five, which surely came as a big relief for their head coach Jens Berthel Askou.

This triumph over Le Havre marked his first win as a Ligue 1 head coach, and he will aim to keep his away record unblemished in the league since taking over this summer.

Going back to the previous top-flight season, this team has struggled in their last two away league matches despite scoring first but managed to claim points in those encounters after conceding the initial goal.

Toulouse has recorded the highest possession average in opposing boxes among Ligue 1 teams this season, with 6.8 per game, but they are also tied for fourth for the most big chances missed (13).

In their last 12 Ligue 1 outings, they have only managed to finish one match without conceding, a feat they have yet to achieve under Askou.

Les Violets have managed to earn points in two of their last three clashes with Mônaco, but they have not succeeded in defeating them at Stade Louis II since 2024 (2-1).

Team News

As this match approaches, Mônaco might be without Aleksandr Golovin due to a leg injury, while Jordânia Teze, Mamadou Coulibaly, Mika Biereth, and Paris Brunner are all aiming to recover from minor injuries.

Stanis Idumbo and Denis Zakaria could miss out due to groin strains, while Ansu Fati remains a doubt because of a calf injury.

Brunner scored his fourth goal of the season on matchday five, placing him among the top scorers in Ligue 1, while a late own goal from Jonathan Gradit clinched maximum points against Lens.

On the Toulouse side, Ismail Diallo’s participation in this weekend’s match is uncertain due to a knock, as is Rasmus Nicolaisen, both of whom missed out in their victory over Le Havre.

Also, Abu Francis might be sidelined due to a lingering hamstring issue that has been troubling him recently.

Casper Tengstedt leads the team with three goals, having netted a brace on matchday five, while Thomas Jorgensen contributed his second goal of the Ligue 1 season in that match.

Mônaco probable starting XI:

Hradecky; Sane, Nibombe, Dier; Vanderson, Camara, Diop, Nazinho; Abline, Detourbet; Balogun

Toulouse probable starting XI:

Remains; Messali, Koumbassa, Odogu, Tape; Sigur, Casseres; Tengstedt, Jorgensen, Hidalgo; Russell-Rowe

Although Mônaco may face a few absences in this encounter, their squad depth, along with Luis’s tactical acumen, is expected to find a way to break through an inconsistent and shaky Toulouse defense.
