Real Madrid vs Getafe – News and Probable Lineups

Real Madrid is looking to get back on track in Spain’s top league as they prepare for a home match against Getafe on Monday night.

Currently, Los Blancos sit in second place on the La Liga standings, one point behind the leaders Barcelona, while Getafe is in 13th position.

Match overview

Real Madrid will head into Monday’s fixture following a 2-1 victory against Benfica in the Champions League knockout round playoff’s second leg, securing a 3-1 aggregate win which pairs them against Manchester City in the last-16 round of the tournament.

It’s been a satisfactory performance in Europe, but Los Blancos encountered a surprising 2-1 loss to Osasuna in their last league match. They currently find themselves second in the standings, trailing Barcelona by one point, who will face Villarreal on Saturday afternoon.

Alvaro Arbeloa’s team holds the third-best home record in Spain’s top flight this season, accumulating 33 points from 12 matches, while Getafe has remained relatively resilient away from home, gathering 13 points from 14 games, achieving four victories along the way.

Real Madrid is set to confront Getafe and Celta Vigo in La Liga before they host Manchester City at Bernabeu on March 11 for the first leg of their last-16 encounter in the Champions League.

The historical record shows Real Madrid has been dominant against Getafe, winning 31 of their last 41 meetings across all competitions, including a narrow 1-0 victory when both clubs faced each other in their previous encounter in October 2025.

Getafe has suffered defeat in each of their last eight clashes with Real Madrid, including a 2-0 loss in their last visit to Bernabeu in December 2024.

Interestingly, the capital club has managed to score just once against Real Madrid during those eight defeats, which is quite remarkable, and they have not achieved a win at Bernabeu since February 2008, underscoring the challenge they face in Monday’s match.

Jose Bordalas’ squad will come into the game following a 1-0 home defeat to Getafe; however, that remains their sole loss in the last five matches within Spain’s top flight.

The Deep Blue Ones have secured victory in two of their last three La Liga encounters, including a 2-0 win over Alaves in their most recent away outing on February 8.

Getafe’s current record shows eight wins, five draws and 12 losses from their 25 league matches this season, placing them in 13th position with 29 points.

Team News

Eder Militao (hamstring), Jude Bellingham (hamstring), Dani Ceballos (calf), Dean Huijsen (calf), Kylian Mbappe (knee), and Raul Asensio (neck) have all been confirmed as unavailable for Real Madrid in the upcoming match, while Rodrygo’s status is uncertain due to a hamstring concern.

Asensio sustained a neck injury during the Champions League encounter with Benfica last time around, but Los Blancos have reported no additional issues following that game.

Huijsen is still not prepared to return from a calf injury, which means Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are expected to start as the central defenders, while Gonzalo Garcia may remain in the lineup should Rodrygo not pass a late fitness test.

On the other hand, Getafe will miss the services of Davinchi (knee) and Abu Kamara (muscle), and Djene Dakonam is suspended after being sent off in the team’s match against Sevilla.

Fitness tests will also be conducted on Abdel Abqar (muscle), Borja Mayoral (knee), and Juanmi (muscle).

The visitors are likely to adopt a five-man defence at Bernabeu on Monday evening, with Martin Satriano and Luis Vazquez set to continue as the attacking pair.

Real Madrid probable starting XI:

Courtois; Alexander-Arnold, Rudiger, Alaba, Carreras; Valverde, Tchouameni, Camavinga; Guler; G Garcia, Vinicius

Getafe probable starting XI:

Soria; Iglesias, Duarte, Romero; Femenia, Milla, Arambarri, Rico; Martin; Satriano, Vazquez
